Hyundai Breaks Sales Records in 2011

Gates Hyundai is proud to say that Hyundai Motors America (HMA) has closed out 2011 with record sales. Hyundai has reported a 24-percent sales increase over the same time period in 2010, which is already on the books as a record-breaking sales period. American Hyundai dealers not only sold over 200,000 Hyundai Sonata sedans, but HMA has announced that a record number of vehicles were sold in November: 49,610 units in all. The Sonata is only part of the picture: nearly 600,000 Hyundai models have hit the roads in 2011, over 100,000 more units than at the same time last year.

We could list a lot of reasons why more and more Lexington area drivers are stopping into Gates Hyundai to test drive cars like the Hyundai Veloster and the 2012 Tucson, but we think a large thanks goes to fuel economy. The corporate average fuel-economy of the Hyundai lineup is 36.4 mpg, with some models as high as 40 mpg (and rising).

When November sales numbers were released early in December, John Krafcik, HMA President and CEO commented that he looked forward to a healthy end to the year. Official numbers haven't been released yet, but more record-breaking news wouldn't surprise us in the least. Especially since sales are up across the lineup - the Tucson and Veracruz were up 35- and 36-percent, respectively, while the Accent was up 16-percent and the Elantra was up a whopping 44-percent.

Regardless, we're looking ahead to a very exciting 2012, so don't be surprised if you hear more good news like this as the year goes on.
