Hyundai Supercharges the Genesis Coupe for SEMA

Last month, we shared some details about the performance-tuned 2012 Hyundai Veloster that Hyundai brought to the 2011 SEMA Show in Vegas. But that wasn't the only impressively tuned vehicle the automaker unveiled last month.

The 2012 Genesis Coupe, now available at Gates Hyundai has already impressed us with its powerful 3.8L V6 engine. For the SEMA show, Hyundai teamed up with Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc., to...

When Hyundai released the 2012 Hyundai Veloster, not even Gates Hyundai was prepared for the overwhelming amount of raves and accolades it would receive. But then, it is quite the vehicle, isn't it?

The all-new, three-door coupe has continued to impress drivers and critics with its advanced technological features, 40-mpg fuel economy, high level of reliability and easy-on-the-wallet MSRP ($17,300). So, okay, maybe we weren't all that surprised to hear that Decisive Magazine picked the 2012 Veloster as their...

Hyundai Tucson Featured on The Walking Dead

There aren't many reasons to associate oneself with zombies. Unless, of course, you're Hyundai, and a main plot point of one of today's hottest TV shows requires a getaway car. In that case, you definitely want to associate yourself with The Walking Dead. This season's premier episode of the AMC drama prominently featured a 2012 Hyundai Tucson amid the wreckage of the, shall we say, undead.

The apocalyptic and often gory world surrounding the main (human) characters pushes them to their physical and mental limits. And in one such scenario...

Performance-Tuned Hyundai Veloster Debuts in Las Vegas

Supercharged Hyundai Genesis Coupe at SEMA

The 2011 SEMA Show is quickly approaching, and with it comes word of several ramped up, performance-driven models from our favorite South Korean auto maker, Hyundai. You may have heard about two after market tuned 2012 Hyundai Veloster models that will be making an appearance, but today [Dealer] would like to share a different model with you. In fact, this one isn't even a Veloster!

The model we're talking about is an all-new variant of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. (HATCI) teamed with several other after market parts manufacturers to create the new variant, which is known as the Hyundai Genesis Hurricane. Some of those that Hyundai turned to for help in the project include Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc.

So what exactly has changed in the Hyundai Genesis Hurricane? First there's the engine, which is a supercharged 3.8-liter V6, featuring a liquid-to-air intercooler. This accounts for an increase in horsepower from 306-hp to 450-hp. Other improvements include IsoTorque differential (resulting in greater handling and traction); DeatschWerks high flow fuel pump and 600cc injectors; Bilstein monotube shock absorbers and springs; differential and steering coolers; SPEC lightweight single mass aluminum flywheel and stage two clutch; Perma-Cool oil; and its custom CPR Fabrication billet aluminum oil filter adapter.

"The HATCI and Magnuson supercharger demonstrates the high-performance potential of Genesis Coupe's V6 engine - the car was engineered to handle this kind of extra power," said David Dutko, senior engineer, HATCI. "Our HATCI engineers have been working for years with Magnuson to ensure high engine output is available on future Hyundai vehicles."1

Beyond, performance, Hyundai has made some attention-grabbing aesthetic changes as well.  Wanting to give the Hyundai Genesis Hurricane a truly dominating presence and take the market by storm, Rhys Millen Racing imbued it with a slew of exterior enhancements, such as  front bumper, grille, hood, 19-inch wheels, side skirts, diffuser and a new rear deck with spoiler.

Are you ready for the 2011 SEMA show? [Dealer] certainly is, especially with such an incredible lineup to look forward to! If you can't attend, remember you can always learn more about a new Hyundai online, via our blog and always-up-to-date inventory pages.

2012 Hyundai Genesis Powers Up

Gates Hyundai of Richmond is a pretty big fan of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis. It's a sleek take on the large premium car segment, which many automakers seem to be turning their backs on lately. However, while Hyundai is certainly diversifying its lineup by featuring more 40 mpg models, such as the 2012 Hyundai Veloster, it remains clear that they're not about ready to give up on the Genesis either.

Case in point: the 2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 R-Spec. This new variant features the largest engine that has ever been equipped in the Genesis lineup. Specifically, it…
