Among the Sonata's five trim levels, you'll find an array of alluring exterior features that you may not want to miss out on. The base-level SE trim already comes with quite a few attractive exterior features such as 16-inch alloy wheels and LED exterior lights that include headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights. Upgrade to the SEL, and you'll get 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, and a hands-free power trunk lid.

The SEL Plus trim is essentially the SEL trim with the addition of the optional Convenience Package, which includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and a host of interior upgrades. Opt for the N Line trim, and you get a performance-oriented Sonata with sporty front and rear fascias and 19-inch alloy wheels. Finally, the Limited trim is more luxurious with features like rain-sensing wipers.

Three engines are available for the new Sonata, and they each have something special to offer. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Beginning at the SEL Plus trim, the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine gets 180 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. If you want to maximize power, the N Line has a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an incredible 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.

Every Sonata is suitable for your daily drives, but the performance-oriented N Line model is particularly sporty, being able to reach 60 mph from a dead stop in just 5.3 seconds. Plus, the dual-clutch automatic transmission makes shifting much more efficient and smoother throughout the entire experience. You don't have to opt for the N Line to get quality shifting, however, as the available paddle shifters let you take control of it all yourself.

Inside the Sonata, drivers can enjoy a relaxing and spacious interior along with 16 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk. The legroom is particularly impressive, with 46.4 inches in the front and 34.8 inches in the back. Interior tech is also quite advanced on the Sonata, with features like an available head-up display that projects vital information directly on the windshield in your line of sight yet never in the way.

The Sonata's safety features are state of the art with lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist and forward collision warning with automated emergency braking both standard right from the base trim level. You can also opt for more advanced features like blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Additionally, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the new Sonata a full five stars for its overall safety rating.
