The exterior features of the Elantra are impressive, and each of the four trim levels has its own features to offer. At the base SE trim level, this sedan comes equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels and auto on/off projector headlights. Upgrade to the SEL, and you get 16-inch alloy wheels and a hands-free power trunk lid with keyless entry.

The N Line trim is primarily focused on performance upgrades, but it still offers exterior add-ons like 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome twin-exhaust outlets. Plus, it comes equipped with heated outboard mirrors, a sunroof, and LED taillights. With the Limited trim, you get 17-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights with integrated turn signals on the outboard mirrors.

Two engines are available for the Elantra, and they're both powerful enough to get you where you need to go with efficiency and style. The base-level engine is a 2-liter inline-four that offers 147 horsepower with 132 pound-feet of torque. If you want a little more power, the available 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four can offer 201 horsepower with 195 pound-feet of torque. No matter which you opt for, the engine is connected to a front-wheel-drive system.

While the standard Elantra's performance is reliable and smooth enough for daily drives and long trips, the high-powered performance models take your drive to the next level. The N Line trim is packed full of power with upgrades like performance tires, enhanced suspension, and high-end brakes. The standard-level Elantra utilizes an efficient continuously variable transmission, but the higher trim levels instead opt for a dual-clutch automatic for even more precise shifting.

Inside the Elantra, you'll find a roomy and comfortable interior for both passengers and cargo. Your rear passengers will especially be happy about the 38 inches of legroom, which is far more than a lot of other sedans offer. Additionally, the trunk has 14.2 cubic feet of available space. In terms of technology, the Elantra is outfitted with an 8-inch infotainment screen, though it can be upgraded to a 10.3-inch screen alongside a 10.3-inch digital gauge display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be integrated as well. Plus, the new Elantra can be outfitted with wireless device charging, a sunroof, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Several impressive safety features are standard on the new Elantra, like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering feature is also available. After the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's crash tests, it awarded the 2023 Elantra a full five stars for its overall safety rating.
